This is the busiest time of year for many people. School is back in session, extracurricular activities are in full swing, even football season is among us. With everything going on, it’s easy for kids to get overwhelmed, and oftentimes want to slack off or quit their responsibilities. Perhaps the most crucial and valuable lesson learned in martial arts is perseverance. Students learn to never give up. They keep moving forward regardless of obstacles. At the World Championship tournament this year, the National Martial Arts Alliance announced their transition from Extreme Martial Arts or XMA, to Elevated and Inventive programs. Extreme is now called Elevated. They are two different programs and students can choose to compete in either division. They can choose to use music or not depending on the student’s preferences.  Nearly everyone agrees that these divisions are some of the most fun to watch parts of Martial Arts. Students that compete in these programs love to train and practice because they push their bodies to the limits and show some crazy moves. Competitors must choose between Inventive and Elevated, but many start at Inventive and work their way up. It has been scientifically proven that optimistic people are healthier, more successful, and able to manifest their dreams. When people think of Martial Arts training, they generally picture kids ages ten to eighteen, when they are likely to start other sports. Venture Martial Arts teaches taekwondo classes starting at age five! You may be wondering, why would I want my five-year-old to learn kicking and punching? The reality is that while that is taught to the little ones, the skills that they gain from Martial Arts are actually excellent in their developmental stages.  Life Skills: Little Dragons (students ages five to six) are the youngest group of kids that are trained with Venture.
