Register Now for the May 9th Tournament

Register now for the NMAA’s 5280 Showdown Tournament on Saturday, May 9th at the Colorado School of Mines’ Steinhauer Fieldhouse.

We encourage all students of all belt levels and ages to compete at tournaments (yes, even white belt Little Dragons) – no previous experience required!

Learn more and register at https://s5.goeshow.com/nmaa/5280showdown/

Additional Tournament Information:

If your student is a beginner, we recommend signing up for the Recreational Ring. In this ring, instructors walk students through their form, which removes the memorization component. The Recreational Ring provides a fun, stress-free environment that introduces students to a tournament setting. All students ages 5-6 are automatically classified as Recreational.

The Competitive Ring is designed for students who have their form memorized (1st half of form only). Students compete for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place podium spots.

Students have the option to spar or do self-defense. This selection is made at the time of registration. If you don’t have sparring gear, self-defense is the best choice for you!

If you have any questions or would like clarification on how tournaments work, please feel free to reach out! You can respond directly to this email or call us at 303-928-0043.

Free Judging and Scorekeeping Clinic on May 8th

In conjunction with the 5280 Tournament on May 9th, the NMAA is hosting a Judging and Scorekeeping Clinic on May 8th from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the Colorado School of Mines’ Steinhauer Field House (1365 Maple St., Golden, CO 80401).

All current judges should plan to attend if possible.

If you’re interested in learning to be a Timekeeper and Scorekeeper, all students 10 years old and up (orange belt and higher) may attend this clinic. Becoming a Scorekeeper is the first step to learning to become a tournament judge. Judges must be at least 12 years old and a 1st-degree black belt.

This clinic is FREE and no registration is required. We encourage any eligible and interested students to attend – it really enhances your tournament experience!

You are welcome to come to the clinic even if you are unable to attend the tournament.
